Don’t miss the premier national event! AJN Conference: Advancing Excellence in Nursing Practice will be held October 4-6, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois this fall!
AJN Conference is sponsored by Wolters Kluwer Health/Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, and is part of the platform of the award-winning journal, American Journal of Nursing (AJN).
We’re expecting approximately 500 nurses from all settings to attend this premier event. The target audience includes clinical nurse specialists, clinicians and clinical nurse leaders, nurses in staff development and clinical research, experienced staff nurses and clinical managers, nurse educators, and others interested in evidence-based care.
Purpose
To provide an update on evidence-based practices for nurses practicing, teaching, or conducting research, and QI projects in clinical settings, and to offer nurses committed to clinical excellence a forum for interacting with experts and colleagues to gain new knowledge, skills, and insights to improve the quality of patient care.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this conference, you'll be able to:
- Identify successful solutions nurses have implemented in solving problems around the delivery of safe, cost-effective care.
- Describe what nursing excellence should look like in discussing new therapies and guidelines for critical assessment, care plans and pathways, diabetes management, human trafficking, using technology for evidence-based practice, cardiovascular disease, pain guidelines, and more.
- Discuss the ramifications of new federal and state regulations and costs associated with hospital conditions and how nurses can be proactive in managing the effects.
- Identify your own position, role, and plan of action during ethical, legal, or interpersonal conflicts in the workplace.
Call for Posters
We invite nurses who have implemented QI projects, such as those based on Transforming Care at the Bedside, and have conducted clinical research, to share your findings by submitting a poster session abstract . A jury will review all applications and will select several for presentation and discussion during a plenary session, as well as for a poster display session. Poster guidelines can be downloaded from this page (see Column to the right).
